About Century Stone Dental
Most of what we treat at Century Stone Dental has a root cause that started somewhere else in the mouth. We work from cause backward, not from symptom forward.
Century Stone Dental is a dental practice on Main Street East in Hamilton, Ontario, established 1988, that works from cause backward: it maps the root cause of a dental problem before treating the symptom. This page covers the named clinical standards used here, the Seven-Point Comfort Standard, the Comfort Planning Protocol (also called the Century Comfort Plan), and the Objective Condition Record built from iTero Lumina 3D scanning, plus sedation options, languages spoken, hours, and how to book.
Coming back to the dentist
If it has been a while since you last saw a dentist, you are not the only one. Most patients we see today have been away for a while too. We do not judge. We just start.
You found us. That was the hard part.
We start with where you are, not where you should have been. You do not have to be brave here. You just have to show up.
Whatever has happened to your teeth before today, we work with that.
From cause backward
Most dental problems do not start where they hurt. They start somewhere else in the mouth and travel.
Think about a tire wearing on one side. You can replace the tire, but if you do not fix the alignment, the next tire wears the same way. Teeth work the same way. A crack on one molar is not just a crack. It is the result of how the bite loads that tooth every time you chew. A worn front edge is not just wear. It is the consequence of a back tooth missing for years, or a grinding habit at night, or a jaw position that shifted after a single early extraction.
An infection under a tooth follows the same rule: the swelling you finally notice is the late chapter of a story that began when bacteria found a way in, often through a crack or an old filling, long before anything hurt. And a tooth that starts throbbing did not become a problem the day it began to hurt; the nerve inside was under pressure long before it sent a signal you could not ignore, which is why a tooth going quiet is never the same as a tooth getting better.
We map the cause before we treat the symptom. That is why our work lasts.
When we look in your mouth, we ask four questions. How are the forces travelling. Where are the teeth positioned. What is the environment of the mouth doing, acid, dryness, breathing through the mouth at night, grinding. And what is the biology of the tissue itself.
Treatment that ignores those four questions repeats the same failure in two years. Treatment that answers them holds.
Century Stone Dental is a dental practice at 684 Main St E in Hamilton, Ontario. Established 1988. A clinical team of 35+ staff speaking 6+ languages, practising cause-backward dentistry across emergency care, crowns, implants, sedation, and alignment. Every chair carries the Seven-Point Comfort Standard. Comfort Planning Protocol available on request. iTero Lumina 3D scanning at the first visit. Phone (905) 545-4833.
When patients describe what they want from a dentist in their own words, someone who listens, someone who doesn't judge, someone who explains, they describe what Century Stone Dental is set up to do. That is not an accident. It is the system we built.
Comfort and sedation
Needing comfort is not weakness. It is information. It tells us how to plan the visit so the work gets done without your nervous system fighting us the whole way.
We built our comfort approach into the operatory itself, not as an add-on. Every chair carries the same set of amenities. We call this the Seven-Point Comfort Standard.
- Aromatherapy
- Weighted blanket
- TV
- Warmed pillow
- Topical anaesthetic
- Warmed anaesthetic
- Tinted glasses
These are included for every patient. No extra cost. No request required. You sit down, and they are already there.
For patients who want more than the standard comfort set, we offer a written comfort plan before the appointment. We call this the Comfort Planning Protocol, and patients know it as the Century Comfort Plan. The plan looks at four things together: how intense the procedure is, how you experience dental work, what your medical history says about safety, and which comfort or sedation options you are eligible for. We build the plan with you before the day of treatment, so when you arrive, the decisions are already made.
Sedation
Nitrous oxide is our first option for every patient who wants more than the standard comfort set. Nitrous works for almost everyone, of any age, and it wears off within minutes of stopping. We use nitrous first, and only move to oral or IV sedation when clinical conditions require it.
When IV sedation is appropriate, two providers are present: one focused on the sedation, one focused on the dental work. This is how we keep safety and clinical focus from competing.
You do not have to decide today. You can call, ask questions, and we will tell you what fits your situation.
You See What We See
Most dental visits start with the dentist looking in your mouth and telling you what is there. We do it the other way around.
We scan first. We use a scanner called the iTero Lumina. In a few minutes, it builds a complete 3D model of your teeth, gums, and bite. The model shows on the screen beside you.
Then we walk you through it.
We show you three frames. What a healthy version of this tooth or this area normally looks like. What yours looks like right now. And what can be done to move from one to the other.
You see what we see. The conversation stops being about what the dentist found and starts being about what the scan shows. That is the difference. We call this the Objective Condition Record, and it is the foundation of how we explain treatment.
You leave knowing what is there, what is not there, and what your options are. You do not have to take our word for it. The scan does the explaining.
Since 1988
We have been on Main Street East since 1988. The building is a character home with coffered ceilings and the kind of detail that does not get built anymore. Patients tell us it feels less like a clinic and more like a place to sit down.
Our team has grown to 35+ staff. Together we speak 6+ languages, so most patients can have their appointment in the language they think in.
