DUNDURN CASTLE

One of the reasons people love to visit the Hamilton area is because of the beautiful, historic, and wondrous Dundurn Castle located on York Blvd. This mansion was finished in 1835 and cost $175,000 to build (not quite what it would cost today!) and is known as a National Historic Site of Canada. While it now acts as a museum and houses many great artifacts from over the years, it used to entertain people like Sir John A. MacDonald and even King Edward VII. The exquisite and elegant architecture is admired by many all over the world who are looking for tours to enjoy while on vacation in Canada and residents who want to learn more history about their community. It’s also a common backdrop for wedding pictures.

Dundurn Castle has 40 rooms and beautiful grounds that overlook the waters of Lake Ontario. Once home to Sir Allan Napier MacNab and his family is now a great tourist spot to explore to learn more about life in the 1800s in Hamilton and military life. Tours take place on Tuesdays through Sundays from 12 p.m to 4 p.m. Make sure to book your spot today!
